The same sectarian, separatist trend which created evident tension between the Qumran covenanters and other Jews, contributed to the final severance of Christianity from Judaism. We have already mentioned the significant designations “Elect of God”, “The Called Ones”, which are common to the sect and to early Christianity. The special position of both communities in the world is also expressed by the term “the Holy Ones”.45 Both communities also called themselves “Perfect” (תמימים, τέλειοι, ἄμωμοι).
